James Vincent Forrestal (February 15, 1892 – May 22, 1949) was the last Cabinet-level United States Secretary of the Navy and the first United States Secretary of Defense. William Lake McKittrick was born June 30, 1897, in Pelzer, South Carolina. He served as Assistant Director of Marine Corps Aviation from January 1945 to June 1947. William Frederick Halsey Jr. (October 30, 1882 – August 16, 1959) was a fleet admiral in the United States Navy during World War II.
